Talked to Dad last night. Either the connection was really bad for him or he is losing his hearing. I tried three times to tell him about the new house but he just kept talking over me (or maybe he was just being dad). We have been packing things away all weekend trying to clear out the house enough to show it for sale. So much stuff and so much resistence to throwing things out!!!!! I am also selling things on Kijiji, so far the treadmill and wine corker are gone, strange combination but what the hey. We are just waiting for the sellers to get an occupancy permit for the new house and then the deal will go through on Geoffs birthday. Happy Birthday Dear. Looking for new furniture which will fit the style of the house. Have lots of room for company hint hint. Happy valentines day to the both of you. Love Cathy

It's amazing how much stuff you collect over the years. And it all seems so important. But even when you want to purge and get rid of stuff, it is so difficult. No one wants your stuff, so it is hard to give it away/ Even organizations like Goodwill or Value Village, are picky about what they will take. And the garbage people don't accept everything. I hope you have a big basement in the new house. Just put all that stuff that no one wants to get rid of in the basement still packed. Eventually it will be too much of a bother to try to figure out where to put it in the new house and then they will be more willing to let it go.
ReplyDeleteWhen I saw the pictures of your new house, I wondered if your current furniture would work. It is a very different layout; long and narrow.
You should have lots of fun decorating. A challenge is always more fun. Well keep us informed. A lot of exciting things happening with our family right now; your new house, Gaelan's wedding; my divorce (yeah).
Oh, and about Dad. That's just the way he is. Just let him talk. You really have to wait for him to ask you a question to be able to tell him anything. I have the same issues when I call him. But do call him. He loves it.
Hi ladies!
ReplyDeleteI talked to Dad today as well and Chris you're right, you have to let him finish his thoughts first and then maybe you can add some of your own news. Sometimes I talk to Gudrun and I'm sure she'll pass on or remind Dad of your news. As for the stuff you don't want, my recommendation is to NOT BRING IT TO THE NEW HOUSE. If it belongs to the kids give them a time limit and if you have to rent a storage unit and make them pay for it. They'll decide pretty quickly if it's important or not. Just a thought. Love you both. Carol
I'm trying to get rid of Rosie's Book Club: as my comment identifier. TypePad didn't work so now I'm trying OpenID. If this doesn't work I'm going to ask Kelsey for help. I've tried adding me as a new author but that doesn't work either and I'm afraid if I delete Rosie's Book Club I won't be able to access the blog. Here goes.
ReplyDeleteOkay that didn't work, either. Help Kelsey!
